I recently had the opportunity to visit Kennal Vale, a hidden gem of Cornwall's natural beauty. Nestled amidst rolling hills and lush landscapes. Kennal Vale is a treasure trove of wildlife, geology, and history. Abundant Wildlife As I ventured into Kennal Vale, I was immediately struck by the abundance of wildlife. The air was alive with the chirping of birds. Their melodies echoing through the tranquil valleys. Dramatic Landscape Kennal Vale's landscape is as diverse as its wildlife. The reserve encompasses a picturesque quarry, a serene woodland, and a meandering river. The quarry, once a bustling hub of industrial activity, is now a tranquil haven for wildlife. Its towering walls providing a contrast to the lush greenery that surrounds it. The woodland offers a shady escape from the city. Its mature trees offering a sense of peace and tranquility. The river meanders through the valley. Adding a touch of serenity and beauty to the landscape. Historical Significance Kennal Vale's history is interwoven with the industrial heritage of Cornwall. The quarry was once a centre of granite extraction. Now left behind is an impressive network of tunnels and caverns. These subterranean passages offer unique glimpses into the past. They provide habitat for bats and other cave-dwelling creatures. The industrial past of Kennal Vale is evident. The reserve is now a place of conservation and appreciation of nature's wonders. A Place for Recreation Kennal Vale is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors enjoy activities, including hiking, biking, and exploring the quarry's tunnels. It's great for birdwatching, manys bird species nesting and foraging in the area. If you're seeking a peaceful retreat or a place to explore, Kennal Vale has something to offer for all. My Experience with Photography in Kennal Vale I was able to capture some beautiful shots of Kennal Vale. Including a striking image of fly agaric mushrooms in front of a waterfall. I used a slow shutter speed of 1/4 to create motion blur of the river and keep the fungi exposed and sharp. I experimented with different angles and compositions. To capture the fungi and the waterfall in unique ways. What I Learnt My trip to Kennal Vale was an opportunity to connect with nature. To learn more about the beauty of the world around us.
