AFFECTIONATE MALICECORNWALL, UK, 2025
|
A picture can say 1000 words. A picture can also tell a 1000 stories. This is one of those frames. It's the artist's privilege to make the work. It's the viewers' privilege to make their own story from it. Regardless of the artist's desired narrative, every person will create a unique one for themselves.
The struggle for the artist is whether they create what they tried to narrate successfully. Whether their care if their work had its desired effect on the audience. If the print encapsulates the feeling I tried express when I look at it, that's a win for me. I want my art to tell a different story to every person who watches it. To evoke a personal story in them. Is Chloé, my partner and muse, looking with malice or affection? Remove the knife, and does your feeling change? The filmmaker must make the most of the mise-en-scene; it can make, break and change the entire narrative of the film. I'd like to forever thank my constant collaborator, muse, model, supporter and partner Chloé for her cooperation. Without her, I'd never make human portraits! |
